A video published today by the B’Tselem human rights organisation shows an unarmed, handcuffed and blindfolded Palestinian being shot by an Israeli soldier at very close range with a rubber-coated steel bullet (not, as some would have it, a “rubber bullet“).

Africa:
“an entire continent of sexually hyperactive indigents … Africa, with its vast savannahs and its lush pastures, is giving almost nothing to anyone, apart from AIDS”.

(see here (.pdf) for more on those unfortunate “inconveniences” Weisglass keeps mentioning).

Israel’s abuse of journalists
Last week Mohammed Omer, a Palestinian journalist living in the Gaza Strip, was tortured by Shin Bet officials as he attempted to return home. He had left Gaza to collect the Martha Gellhorn prize for Journalism in London for his insightful and humane reporting on the effects of the Israeli siege on the impoverished [...]

‘A group of West Bank settlers on Saturday beat a 31-year-old Palestinian man in the southern Hebron Hills, after having tied him to a telephone pole.
Left-wing activists later videoed a settler kicking Madahat Abu-Kirash, the victim, as he remained tied up and was surrounded by Israeli security forces. The soldiers subsequently [...]
