Ben Griffin speaks
Ben Griffin, a former SAS soldier who this week exposed Britain’s extensive involvement in “systematic” torture and extraordinary rendition, spoke yesterday at a World Against War rally:
He has now been officially silenced by the high court.

The transformation is complete
Today, Israel’s deputy defense minister Matan Vilnai threatened genocide against the Palestinians:
“The more Qassam [rocket] fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, they will bring upon themselves a bigger shoah because we will use all our might to defend ourselves”.
‘Shoah’ is the Hebrew word for ‘Holocaust’. Vilnai was promising nothing less than the extermination [...]

A tortuous cover-up
The government admits to complicity in two cases of “extraordinary rendition”, but claims they are an isolated case and promises that it “never uses torture for any purpose, including obtaining information, neither would we instigate actions by others to do so.”
Ex-SAS soldier Ben Griffin begs to differ:
“The use of British Territory and airspace pales [...]

Killing a nation
The House of Lords recently debated the issue of human rights in West Papua. It’s well worth a read.
Britain is heavily complicit in Indonesia’s genocide of the West Papuan people, and continues to shamelessly oppose independence for the province, for reasons bluntly expressed in an internal 1968 Foreign Office memo:
“The strength of the Indonesian position [...]

Why the Qassams?
Ha’aretz explains (again):
‘‘Hamas has been trying for some time to create a balance of deterrence with Israel in the Gaza Strip. For every large-scale strike on its people, it has responded in recent months with massive rocket barrages.
The organization especially wants to see targeted assassinations taken out of the equation. Hamas seems to believe that [...]

Realising Palestinian rights
Three Palestinian children aged 10, 12 and 14 were killed this evening in an Israeli air-strike in northern Gaza, bringing today’s Palestinian death toll to 12. Five members of Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades were killed this morning in two targeted assassinations in Gaza, while this afternoon two Palestinian farmers were killed by Israeli tank fire. In [...]

Mossad is pro-Hamas. Who knew?
You’ll probably recall that mainstream coverage largely portrayed Hamas’ takeover in Gaza last June as a “coup”, a power-grab revealing once and for all the underlying ‘totalitarian’ nature of the Hamas movement. Serious analysts of the conflict – Conflicts Forum, the International Crisis Group, the IISS, The Heathlander, Alastair Crooke, Nir Rosen, Tony Karon, Ali [...]

IDF-style:
‘But the IDF has also carved up the area inside the Gaza Strip, at least on the army’s maps. The army intends to prevent the marchers from advancing on the fence when they are still inside the Strip, using various means for crows dispersal according to a ring system: The closer the marchers get to [...]

Looks like them crazy terr’ists…
…ain’t so crazy after all:
In an extensive study of Palestinian suicide bombings, three University of Toronto researchers have concluded that the bombers were not psychologically unstable and were often motivated by personal vengeance, not religious zeal.
The study was carried out by political sociologist Robert Brym, with the assistance of two Ph.d students, Palestinian Bader Araj [...]
